The press center of the 11th CPPCC has held a news conference to discuss issues on Chinese education. According to the government work report by Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, the education budget in 2012 will be over two trillion yuan, accounting for 4% of GDP. CPPCC member Zhong Binglin talked on using the budget efficiently.

"Personally, I think achieving a 4% GDP will be very difficult. Firstly, the central and local governments need to take powerful measures to make sure to get 4 percent money. Secondly, the education budget configuration should be optimized. For higher education, the average budget for students should be increased, so that the schools can fully make use of the money accordingly," said Bing.
